The Matchless Authority of the Scriptures
An all-day workshop with Dr. Don Carson
For decades, numbers of sceptics have asked disconcerting questions concerning both the accuracy and authority of Scripture. The trend has now moved even to those who would claim to be believers and call themselves ‘evangelical’. Some claim the Bible merely contains God’s Word. Some claim only certain authors of Scripture or books of Scripture can be trusted and relied on. Others claim the Bible was written in an ignorant and unenlightened era and contains harmful teachings. Some point out inconsistencies and errors. For many believers, our answers, though true, were both simple and simplistic. The Bible is the foundation for everything we know about who God is, who we are and how we relate to Him.TGC Ontario in partnership with FEB Central, Muskoka Bible Centre, Hughson St. Baptist Church, West Highland Church, Philpott Church and New City Church is thrilled to be welcoming Dr. Don Carson, one of the world’s leading scholars on Scripture, to come and both defend and explain how the Bible is the matchless and final authority on all matters of both what we believe and how we live. We will meet at Philpott Memorial Church, 84 York Boulevard on Saturday October 5th from 9am – 5pm.
The four sessions that day will include:
- Session One: The Priority of the Word of God.
- Session Two: The Authority of the Word and the Centrality of the Gospel.
- Session Three: Panel Discussion and Q & A with Dr. Don Carson, Dr. Stan Fowler, and Dr Craig Carter
- Session Four: Subtle Ways to Abandon the Authority of Scripture.
As this is the most critical issue of our day, we are hosting this event on a Saturday so that both pastors and members from our congregations as attend. The early bird cost is $35 for the day and $25 for students.
Snacks will be provided at out two break times and everyone is on their own for lunch. As we are downtown Hamilton there are numerous restaurants within a 5 minute walk from the church. There is parking available in the church lot and then street parking and public parking once the lot has filled.
TGC Ontario is delighted to be emphasizing such an important topic in a crucial area of our faith believing that we will leave that day with a better understanding of the nature of Scripture, being better able to explain what we believe about Scripture and in awe of our God who gave us Scripture. Join us for this significant event.
